The sensor cup is made to be virtually maintenance free. It is composed of a dual stainless steel filter system to keep out butts and debris and has been tested under some of the harshest bar environments we could get into while still making it out alive. We have not met a drunk yet that has been able to cause any harm.

 

Under "normal" conditions, this sensor cup does not require any daily cleaning and can generally go for months without any special attention whatsoever. Trust us, we tried. We have found that a simple mixture of hot water and  a standard cleaning solution poured through the device from time to time is sufficient. If you are a neat freak (we haven't met any of those in a men's room yet), the unit does completely disassemble...... if you're into that sort of thing.
